Cooking Runied Fish

In Desolation Point, Pilgrim, I found two ruined fish, one in the grounded ship and another in a rowboat. The fish showed 0% and were even x out in the inventory, however, I was able to cook them and eat them gaining hundreds of calories. It looks like a bug to me, perhaps an unintended feature now that ruined items stay in the game.
