Roberto Tomba
I admit it: I'm WAAAAYYYY too obsessed with this game. I don't even think of it as a game: it's like an alternate reality. So, one of the things that I'd definitely do - particularly in kitchens - is locate spices. I'm a cook, so I know that things taste better with the right seasoning. Besides being awesome to have for realism, seasoning could play in the game as restoring stamina: heated baked beans do this because they make you happy. Imagine being able to add salt to make it even better. And what kitchen in the western world doesn't at least have salt, and probably pepper? Scyzara
I believe this is an option worth considering for the recently announced advanced cooking and wellbeing systems. Much like drinking a nice cup of hot tea or coffee, eating a well-seasoned (or at least salted) steak might certainly make you feel a little better imo. I for one have more than 50 spices in my kitchen cabinet, the thought not even to have salt at my disposal (in real life I mean) is definitely not appealing. However, for gameplay reasons (and not to overcomplicate things), I'm convinced it would be best to add only one item either called "salt&pepper" or "basic spice set" to the game. Something along these lines: Once advanced cooking (frying of multiple steaks at once without time-speedup) is introduced, it might then be possible to use the salt& pepper (or the spice set) to season meat and fish. vancopower
I wish that I can make an omelet in TLD, yesterday I invented a new recipe it is called Bromlet. eggs, broccoli, smoked chicken, cheese, hot peppers and carrots. It is awesome and yes I used "Vegeta" a famous spice in these parts.
RighteousFury
Maybe the seasoning can make the food add more hunger or salt prolong its "life".

Related to this, what about food preservation? A lot of food items still come in glass jars and many people in rural areas preserve their own food. I think this mechanic would have to accompany the implementation of seasons. Being able to collect fruit, veggies, or nuts and then preserve them for winter would be a lot of work - but also a good survival challenge for dedicated players. All it would take is collecting jars and after consuming food already in jars retaining the empties, then assembling everything you need at a canning station. There could be one or two generated per sandbox.
