Tireless Menace v.327 Feedback and First Impressions

Evening All.

This will be a collection of my feedback and first impressions on the newest update now that I've finally had a chance to play! I'll update when I can. In the meantime, I'll also be video logging my experiences on my YouTube channel as well (). So, without further ado, my report on "Tireless Menace".

Not yet played/experienced: Cabin Fever, Hunted (Pt 1), Parasites, First Person Presence

Currently Playing the Hopeless Rescue Challenge

The Good:

  • Graphics update is really nice especially the sunset/sunrise and ice
  • Enjoying the challenge modes so far. They make for very interesting gameplay (would love to see achievements for these)
  • Flare brandishing is an interesting mechanic. I quite like it.

Needs Fixing:

  • Resting. I was attacked by a wolf and I was resting to heal. Once I got to ~90% condition though I was no longer "tired" and the game refused to let me keep sleeping. I'm injured, it's in the middle of the night and I cannot rest to heal. That's just super annoying. If you're injured, you should be able to rest to heal.
  • Emergency Stims are supposed to be a rare, precious resource, right? Why am I finding so many then?
  • Resting in sleeping bags. I almost had a panic attack because the "pick up" button had been moved. For a few seconds I thought sleeping bags may now be one use only! Maybe make the button more prominent?
  • Game seems to be choppier with occasional jerky movements inside buildings although this may just be a result of having a very old PC

The Bad:

  • The radial menu. Call it a personal issue but I hate having menus that I can't toggle or back out from. I spent a lot of time just being frustrated with how the radial menu works since I would lift up my hand to drink some tea... and have the menu disappear since I can't toggle it to stay up. I agree that it's very sleek and stylish... but for me I need to be able to toggle it for it to be functional.

Anyways, that's my impressions so far. As I said, I'll update as I play :)

Not sure if you noticed it, but you now heal over time while awake if your stats are good. The annoying part to me is that either I make sure I go to bed exhausted, or I face a black screen for a few seconds every day while passing time xD

The Emergy Stims you found are in Challenge mode or in Sandbox? If so, is it a new fresh game? I'm playing and old save, and with everything looted, I'm not sure if I should be even looking for them, but so far I've seen none. In my challenge mode games I found several, but I'm not sure if that's tied to the challenge mode itself. Would like to hear from someone starting a fresh sandbox :) 

I don't mind the radial menu, though I agree that adding the option for togling would be a good thing :)

Playing Pilgrim here, fresh load just for testing v. 321 (and updated to 325).

I have found, if I recall correctly, four or five stimpacks so far, and that's just exploring the ML map. Haven't yet moved on to other maps. 

I agree the ability to toggle on/off the radial menu would be nice, too. I've more to say about that but this is not the place for it.

I'm presently doing the "hopeless rescue" challenge. Also... if condition increases when "passing time" wouldn't that still allow for hibernation abuse? I just want to be able to sleep if I'm injured. O.o

There is no reduced calorie burn when passing time so that would reduce the benefit of hibernation.

I think the hibernation has been severly capped now. 

To gain condition, all your condition bars need to be on the white range as far as I could experiment. So unless you keep yourself well fed and hydratated (and rested, and warm), you won't be gaining condition. When passing time, caloric consumptions is not reduced, so you won't be able to save your food in the same way as before.

Actually I really find this change interesting because it pushes you to not try to sleep each time you are not at 100% health, which make sense: in real life, you never fully recover from an injury in one night.

note that drinking herbal tea help to recover faster while sleeping.

Tea recovers Condition %age faster?

I'd always used it in the past for increased tiredness recovery, but since this update I don't want to be be able to sleep for any less time! I've been using them purely to help keep warm when out and about on cold days since the patch.

If they work to recover overall Condition more quickly during sleep, I'll maybe start drinking tea before bed again!
