Crafting low-quality clothes from cloths/leather

An idea to be able to make low-quality clothes from cloths and/or leather.

I find it likely that if I had no pants or gloves or the like, I'd be able to craft somewhat useful ones out of curtains or pieces of leather with a sewing kit. Albeit, probably not pretty ones

What would you see these as equivalent to, in terms of effectiveness? If I were to rip down some curtains and fashion pants, something in the range of jeans at 10-20 percent condition? More, less?

Why would we need this? You probably have clothes. It might be better to be able to do bad repairs on fur clothes with cloth and leather, though.

I would say 25% of jeans would be a probable effectiveness, though e.g. as scarf they might be more like 50%.

As for why, then I got the idea when I just started, got mauled by a bear and my jeans were ruined. I had cloths, but had to go butt naked around until I found some new ones

On the same kind of idea, maybe we could use a curtain as a blanket to add some warmth when we sleep in a bed roll ?

I would rather get the ability to stuff our clothing with crumpled-up newspaper or cattail-fluff for some added insulation.
