random calliope
Thank you for varying the animal routes. I was just thinking the other day, before the update, how dangerous the game would be if the bears and wolves didn't stay on predictable routes. I skirt by them and knew where all their turn-around points were. Tireless Menace comes around and now I see wolves wandering closer where they've never, ever walked before. Then a bear wandered nearby! Very cool. Very challenging. This is one of the best changes so far.
cowboymrh
It also seems to me that wolf predictability has changed as well. Just dropped a decoy for a wolf and he ran right around it and attacked me........ and I died!! This new update is going to adjust a few "attitudes" in my opinion!! It's already adjusted mine!! Great Update!!

Wildlife spawns (except bears) have been overhauled in the new update, so you'll see some different behaviour!
SteveP
These changes have, in my opinion, radically changed the difficulty level of the game in a way that will affect new players the most. We'll have to wait and see just how viable the new system is. This game has changed a lot recently and has become far less strategic and more like an arcade game. I don't know Steve ...... with over 400 hours of gameplay, I'm not a new player anymore and I've had my "butt handed to me" on a couple of runs using a fresh character. The new update has eliminated a bunch of those "predictable and arcadish" exploits and has made the game much more strategic in my opinion! I hope you'll make one of your great movies using a "new stalker character on Timberwolf Mountain". One last thing....... I'm glad I've experimented with the new update with "fresh characters" and not my 540 day character!!

We did the same especially after reading some of the problems with the initial release. I think I will use Pilgrim mode for a while to see how that goes for exploration. All the videos I made on Desolation Point are no longer applicable; obsoleted by the changes to torches. :-( I don't see the strategy part. The wolves roam considerably now and are no longer much afraid of flares and torches. An arcade game is one that relies primarily on eye-hand coordination, at least to me.
