Footprint Bug

Not even 5 minutes into the update and I found this. It has something to do with footprints. Nice jump scare though. You turn around and BAM, ghosts are following you. I can't get into the game. Not even to look for more bugs. I did however shutdown the game and restart it, but it is not that easy of a fix. So I'm all sad faced now. Please help asap.

What are your system specs? What detail level are you running at? If you change the detail level. do the shadows go away?

Really what I need to know is what video card are you running. To help you determine that I need to know what OS you are running, first.

I have this same bug, running an AMD FX-6300 with 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX970 (Windows 10).  I've been playing the game every day for a few weeks and this bug just appeared post-update.  I tried various quality settings and resolutions but the bug persists.  My video driver version is 364.72 (3/28/2016).

We are currently investigating the issue - If anyone who is suffering from this issue could post their logs, that would help us out greatly. The logs can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TheLongDark\tld_data

Just grab the file called output_log and attach it to the thread

I've noticed a few odd footprint floaters as well when I was trying out the bear challenge. Examples below are from v325 and v326, all the same save:

My specs:

GTX 660Ti using GeForce Game Ready Driver 364.72 released 3/28/2016

CPU:i5-3350P  Mobo: MSI G77MA-G45  OS: Win7 Home Premium

I have since finished that challenge and quit, output log is attached.

@TheRealNFK - Are you forcing DX9 by any chance, and if you are can you try without?

No, I don't think so. My PC runs DirectX 11, and I've never fiddled with my TLD video settings aside from what's available in the options menu. I haven't had a chance to play on the latest hotfix, so I'll keep an eye out for any more floaters next session. They don't seem to happen often for me, I only noticed it twice.

@Support

Ok, so I was I thinking about it, and I noticed the two prior floaters happened near big rocks, so I started a random pilgrim save, got Desolation Point, and went stomping around some rocks... and nothing. All footprints normal. So then I started a pilgrim save for Pleasant Valley (because that's where my first floater happened), and I stomped around any big rocks I could find. I eventually got a single floater (it's three pictures of the same one from different angles). After this I tried to make some more, but the rest of the footprints looked good, so I slept on the bedroll to save, then quit, and now I'm attaching the output log. Hope it's useful.

@karabass - those are expected. You're on low and have multiple footprints over lapped from moving around in a small space

It was overlapped only on a screenshot i made, the footprints themself were buggy from a single passage, I just stomped around to get a nice angle for the shot so you could see that impression in the snow draws correct, but shadow (or whatever occlusion it is) draws detached from the snow
