common
I think it would be nice to make the weather types last a little longer, right now it seems like its a fast cycle of fog, snow blizzard sun etc etc .... but it would be nice if for example light snow lasted for a few days, fog lasted for a few days and at the same time a blizzard lasting that long also. I just think i would love to go out hunting during a heavy fog day, which i cant right now because weather changes so fast.... thats all ty
hauteecolerider
Hey common what map are you playing on? It seems to me that TM has the most changeable weather, while ML and CH have longer lasting weather cycles. Fog seems predominant at CH and at Desolation Point, too - makes perfect sense since they are coastal regions. Inland, especially with the cold, I feel that fog should be less frequent. I'm fine with the variety of weather, but I wouldn't mind clear days for a change! That said, it would make sense in view of the game's causative event that the weather would be so changeable - instability of the atmosphere leading to unstable weather systems and so on . . . My guess is things would become way more difficult, since you would have to spend longer periods inside shelters. Which in turn means you need resources there. Which maybe you won't have the time to collect. But it would certainly be interesting. Maybe as a dynamic - so you would start with frequent periods of sunshine, but the longer you survive, the more bad weather you get and the longer it lasts. This might actually force you to go out, for example, in the fog to gather sticks, hunt etc. And at some later point you would have to go out when it is snowing as well. Or at night. Very exciting... I don't think I'd be in favour of the game forcing worse and worse weather on you as you survive longer, just to make it harder. That would feel a bit contrived. But at the same time, if you found yourself in a three-day blizzard when you've only just spawned it would be near impossible to get through it under current game parameters. It could work - if things like the effects of hunger and thirst and cold killed you less quickly, and instead there were more emphasis on their negative effects to your ability to carry out normal functions: your vision and hearing gets worse; you fatigue more quickly; your movement is slowed; the effects of injury, illness and exposure were prolonged; etc. I don't have a problem with carrying longer-term afflictions that make things harder while you continue to struggle to stay alive; but bad-thing-happen=death= start-again : this is generally bad for gameplay. Having bad weather last longer, forcing you into doing things and into situations that you'd rather avoid: this is good; this is where the game feels like a struggle against the environment. If you're always able to run around with the same freedom to run and shoot and perform other tasks, no matter what your condition or state of health: this is where you start to feel like you're gaming a game a bit. Right now, if its foggy i just wait a bit, maybe take a nap or fix some clothing or boil some water and its gone...but having to actually go out in the world in this type of weather without worrying that any second it will change for the worse would make some great gameplay.... imagine hunting deer in the fog, hard ? yes ...fun ? hell yes! You are bound to get caught out by weather there. Coastal Highway's weather is pretty clement in comparison.

Pleasant Valley should be the perfect place to hang out for a while. Bring your warm clothes though.
rectorsquid
I have only played as an intermediate (Voyager?) so I have no idea what changes when the level is increased. The weather duration ought to be longer as the difficulty level is increased.
