People on the radio

 If the radio is ever more than just a click than it would be cool to have survivors broadcasting on the radio. Maybe they would ask for help or tell the player info on what happened. I think this would help the immersion and maybe help the player hope there is something worth surviving for.

Yeah it would be really cool if you could talk to other players on the radio and trade information, or just have a nice conversation.

Not sure if the radio would work in these "geomagnetic" conditions. I assume radio signals would just get all jumbled up by the erratic magnetic forces and sputter into the wind

Actually, magnetic fields have no affect on radio waves.
