liam
I was playing the long dark on the Xbox One and I had started a fire with a stick and put some ceder firewood on it but it got stuck at nine minutes. No matter how much firewood I put on it just stayed at nine minutes. It almost killed me because I was freezing. This has happened more than one time so it's not a one time glitch. selfless
It's not a glitch its a challenge. When a fire is being blown by the wind it gets capped at 9 minutes max and will not recover until the wind shifts away again. Look at the flames blowing sideways. Best build another fire. Next time maybe you will be mindful of where to build your fire so as to best shelter it for when the wind will shift as it is so wont to do. cekivi
Note: depending on the difficulty level you're playing on and the number of sticks in your inventory there is an alternative to @selfless's advice. I assume you lit the fire because you're freezing. In Pilgrim and Voyager just having a fire will stop the "freezing" condition from worsening. So, if it's a life and death situation you can sit by your 8 min fire and continually feed it sticks until the wind shifts and you can build a large fire. If you're playing on Stalker or building a fire to cook/boil water you'll just have to leave. I found out about the 8min max rule myself when the wind shifted after making a large fire. Down at 8 min and not getting any larger or hotter. Fortunately, at least the fire won't go out completely anymore (you can keep it at 8 min unlike earlier builds) and I was only using sticks when learning my lesson
