Fuarian
You should be able to find a pot to carry along with you. So when you have a campfire you can cook your food in it faster rather than putting the can over the fire. This also kind of has to be implemented let's say for if they add the Enhanced Cooking which let's you leave something on the fire. How would that work if you have nothing to put it in. Same for water. I don't think you hold snow in your hands for that. And don't even mention your infinite supply of plastic water bottles.
SteveP
Yes, this could use a bit of tidying up. Currently you can melt snow over a fire without a metal container however a metal bucket or pot would add weight to the inventory. Presumably there are plenty of pots and pans lying about in the cottages so I infer the player is able to use those! ;-) For those acquainted with survival tools, we know we need cordage, containers, fire, fuel and other things. It hasn't been overwhelming that the fans felt a need for a bucket. We probably tend to overlook this obvious need when we can simply go to the tap and get clean water. Containers is not on the roadmap however advanced cooking techniques are so perhaps the magic pot will be added at that point. Personally, unless we get some means to transport larger inventories (sledge or sleigh or toboggan), adding a heavy metal pot to inventory would just make the game harder. I guess I'm ambivalent about it for that reason.
nicko
depends how you cook? a nice grill over charcoal yum, smokey grilled flavor. Grills are easy to find or make. A pot of some sort that would have to be found or crafted. makes good soups, stews etc., ps ive found pots in cabins but can only harvest them as metal atm. Dirmagnos
I dont really see much problem with unlimited plastic bottles. In general household you can find at least a dozen of those, or various sizes, shapes and condition. And it would be nice to have some additional kitchenware for advanced cooking while on the move. example 1 example 2 example

Having to dump certain supplies that you may need but aren't a current necessity for other things that are etc... Or we could get a backpack upgrade with furs. Vhalkyrie
I would like a portable kitchenware set. Just a pot for boiling/frying. No need to have spoons or knives - that can just be assumed because it doesn't have an interactable game purpose.. Yes, it would add weight, but that's just a part of backwoods camping/bushcraft. @hauteecolerider suggested at one point needing to harvest/create animal bladders to store water instead of water bottles, and I think that's a great idea that fits within the living off the land/traditional native American survival motif. Vilespectre
Okay. First of all, I'd like to say that the title for this post is definitely misleading ... but I'll toss in my thoughts about the saucepan anyway. I always just assumed that you used a mess kite for boiling water (when not using a stove). Even the most basic genuine survival kits come with a mess kit because they're quite literally indispensable. Assumed its weight was factored into the backpack. (For any lurkers out there who are unfamiliar, this is a mess kit).
