6lv1
In my opinion, the enjoyment of the game is really to control your environment and yourself, to master all the variables that may get you down slowly. when you do so, you starte to survive, if you do not, you're just dying slowly (without noticing). What I've experienced in this game is that at the beginning every choices you make are very important, leading you to slow/quick death or leading you to one more day survival. And this feeling is awesome : "what are the 15 next things I need to do to insure my survival for 2 more days". This takes planning, thinking, and hoping. Then you start to be able to craft a few things which makes you survive easier (crafting good clothing will make u almost immune to air temperature, so that you can do more outside, so that you can actually find more food, discover more etc) After a wile (50 days) you start to fall in some kind of routine, it's a bit... easy to find your way. No more careful planning, far less planning, not much hope, just routine (almost). I think that adding some slow mechanic, such as personal hygiene for example would add risk management enjoyment for the second part of the game, the one that's too easy in my opinion. we also should be affected by the type of food we eat in the long term. it is not ok to eat meat for a month, or no meat etc. these long term management would be great when we're actually kind of settles and we need to stay for good. Could we all together gather all form of long term risks management which in your opinion would make the game harder in the long term? Ideas I had or I've gathered from other members - Hygeine : would affect in the long term by adding risk of infection whenever injured would add risk of food poisoning (I think my character eats meat with his hands) would need soap, water Soap could be found as an item, or crafted (Fat from animals, water, charcoal -> http://www.survival-manual.com/homemade-soap.php ) would have a penalty on hunting capacity (smelling like soap isn't the best way to get close to a deer) there should be a odor interaction management with the animals (already here, so just tuned). - Food management this idea is awesome, and could be really a start of a bigger food management which would involve sicknesses and events depending on how well you achieve to balance your diet. If a calorie kind is too rare in your diet you would start to weaken, or get diseases, tiredness etc. what do you think? Waiting for your ideas / comments! vancopower
I suggested this many times, here it goes: We should be able to find nuts, and collect them dry them to switch the diet a little from the meat routine. Also the best and healthiest teas come from tree bark, the survivor could make that we already have birch bark in the game however I don't know if it is ok to make tea with it. Also the survivor could grow tea and other mountain plants in pots not something fancy like tomatoes or bell peepers but things he finds in the mountains, for example: dandelion leaves are almost like lettuce and even 10 times more healthy I don't know if they even grow in Canada I was just making my point I am sure that there are other types of mountain plants which do not require much attention. To make the game more interesting in long term, they should make some locations unique in terms of long time survival just like the forge in DP. maybe a underground facility that actually has power which you can use to improve your crude tools, or something completely different you need power to turn animal fat in to soap and fuel for the lamp, on the other hand you need to bring coal to keep the power on, also another place of interest could be food packing plant where you can smoke and pack the food but in order for the machines to operate you need fuel which you make at the other place, and then you go to a third place to gather some raw material and in the meantime you rest in between trying to move in good weather staying out of wolves reach standard stuff . A Birch bark tea has been used for a very long time - setting aside some of the more outlandish claims for it the tea is basically astringent with salicyte. Good for aches and pains with some cleansing properties. Doesn't taste particulary bad either.

Since birch bark is common item the tea should be low calorie and with a 30% to relieve pain or 20% food poison cure. Also you can not make tons of it since it will take like 30 min fire time, and water. And a few balances here and there and yes it will be great addition for the new update let's keep our fingers crossed.
