Someone stop me - I keep on shooting bears...

someone stop me - they're almost more trouble then they're worth... last one had 89 lbs (what are you feeding the things in Desolation Point?!!!) and it took me so long to find it and schlep it to somewhere I could build a fire that it was about 50 / 50 on whether I'd end up with food poisoning. :)  Ended up leave a little pyramid of bear meat for the wolves - since the furry hazards kept on trying to jump me while cooking the bear meat.  Oh, and let us not forget the hour or so of running around demented - which is actually kind of amusing if you're sitting in a car watching it.

They are not that bad. I usually hide behind a tree and wait for it to come closer and when it does I shoot it in the head. Usually it doesn't even attack me (as long as it didnt see me I guess), it just starts running around. In such a small region like Desolation Point, I wouldn't even try to track it. I ll just chop some wood for an hour and by the time I am done, the bear is dead and very close by. While harvesting the meat, I crouch down behind the bear so that if there is wind, I am protected (at least from one direction).

I lost track of the one in dp because it ran back towards its cave (I guess there were an awful lot of bones in there) and wasn't really visible until I was right there - and wouldn't you know it was in the middle of a blizzard :)
