LloydNoise
I've played the long dark for about 210 Hours now. I'm only 30 Hours away from reaching the 'You Made It!' achievement in real life. Here's some more suggestions that I think are worth bringing up. Tarp: The way I see it, tarp can have it's uses for any survivor. Specifically I see tarp as useful for mainly being set up as a windbreak or as a implement for crude shelter building. With a couple of poles and a moderate sheet of tarp, you can keep the wind out of any cave or away from your outdoor campfire. I'm not going to go into lean-tos or the like as it's already been mentioned by others countless times. However, with the addition of nails (perhaps a light hammer?) and a sizeable amount of tarp. If you were to come across a hunting stand or one of those ruined barn-structures, just cover up the holes or gaps and basically make it more liveable and more resistant to the wind and elements. Carpets: When I place my bedroll down in a abandoned house with a carpet on the floor, I think about how you could just use the carpet as an ad hoc blanket over your bedroll. Then I think about just grabbing a carpet or some curtains and trimming them to size and make a poncho out of them. It could go over your coat or jacket, with a hole to fit your head through and a hood. I can attest to the usefulness of this as I've made one in the past for a Halloween costume. It was heavy and got in the way at points, but it rained all night and I wasn't even shivering. Disposable Barbecues: You know, the silvery trays stuffed with charcoal and covered over with a thin metal grill. You mainly use them when out in the spring and summer (At least in the UK), so I'd think if you were going to find any, they'd be in storage or on store shelves optimistically for the coming tourist season that's not coming. The main reason I'm bringing this up is because I'd bet they're a lot safer to use indoors than setting up a campfire, especially so if you're in a house without a stove or fireplace. That's all I got. If someone's already mentioned these before, then I'm sorry.

Same fuel, same mechanics, this could be used to cook and melt snow in structures without wood stoves....
cekivi
Good ol' Coleman stoves Pity they weigh so much. The propane and butane ones are much lighter but it would be comparatively difficult to find the specialized fuel cans for them. Plus why add more fuels when kerosene is already implemented into the game.
LloydNoise
I concur. I didn't really think about a small portable stove, I guess though that once all the fuel goes then maybe the stove would be just a paperweight. Saying that though, nothing lasts forever. I think maybe Hinterland would have to take some creative license with a kerosene stove that's quite light.
