starfighter441
I was just re-reading one of S.M. Stirlings Emberverse novels, and realized that arrowheads should be one of the easiest things to make in the Long Dark. There should be blanks in abundance in just about every house. Spoons. Beat it flat with the heavy hammer, cut the handle down to serve as a tang, and sharpen the edges. Voilà, a stainless steel broadhead.
FatheriatorCZ
I dont know if it works like that but with this kind of arrowhead you wouldnt be able to get IT back it would probably brake inside the prey you are hunting.

Is there a better or worse novel to jump into for newcomers? This line from Wikipedia is intriguing: "a history professor starts a neo-feudal empire in the ruins of Portland." I'd start at the beginning myself, but that is just my OCD kicking in. I've read, or listened to the entire series so far.
6lv1
totally agree, Making something sharp and heavy enough to make it an arrow head should be simple. Yet it should be very long process of sharpening. Sharp stones were used before metal to craft pointy things. It could be less predictable or inflict less damage (more than one arrow to take kill some animals) The whole hunting with bow thing should be rethought in my opinion, it should be more easy to craft low quality arrows (Made out of bones, wood, feather, cloth) the arrows should break more easily when they are bad quality, etc etc. Animals should be more difficult to kill, they should react differently when hit in different parts of the body etc. +
Boston123
Basically, I would only add an actual sharpened point to the arrow if I was planning on hunting large game. ANything else, up to and including target-practice and rabbit-hunting, would be done with a bare-shaft, or a fire-hardened head.
