Pick up rabbits / drag dead animals

Hi everyone,

I know the topic has been quite covered already, but I have to ask for possibility to take the rabbits (when dead) from the ground into the bag in order to get meat guts and fur from it in a place of the player's choosing. It just does not make any sens otherwise. no one would freeze in the cold to do that.

To extend it to another point, it should (in my opinion) also be possible to drag dead animals on relatively short distances (before the player needs to rest). of course it would burn more energy, get the player more tired and so on (depending on the mass of the animal dragged). the bear could not be moved at all for example, and a good (above X%) condition may be required to do so.

I give you all a real example of what happened to me once, and why I find this dragging thing a must to have. I found once a dead deer on a hill, but the animal was located on a part of the hill which was really sloppy, there was no way I could start a fire nearby to unfreeze the carcasse and get something out of it. As I did not have any hatchet or knife at that time I was then just F§@cked. Now what would a real person do? drag the animal down hill, and do whatever he wants to do on a flatter surface.

It seems just logical to me. shouldn't it be added to this already awesome game?

Real person ? Drag a "bag" that can weight over 100kg, is nowhere near being smooth or small, down the surface that will pretty much triple corpse weight due to it sinking into snow, not to mention being nowhere near even or having any help.

No, its not logical. Real person would either try to deal with it on spot or leave it be. And if were talking realism, players shouldnt be able to make fire on a snow to begin with.

Dirmagnos,

I see your point, with the weight and the difficulty to drag with no help etc. But for me something hard doesn't mean it's not doable, or cannot be tried. what is really hard to conceive for me, is that you would be a survivalist who cannot drag anything at all. In real life, you drag stuff when... you need to. If something is too heavy to lift, you drag it, at least you try to... Now, it is true that dragging something in fresh snow could be even harder, but hard snow and ice, makes it easier. so i think, in between "impossible to drag anything" and "dragging something on some short distances", there is a lot possible to imagine. And it would make the landscape/soil and the weather even more important to take into account!

I think the game tries to give the player a feeling of realism, I just think pulling, pushing and dragging is something human beings do, so i think they could think about it.

You're right, making fire on snow should be harder, isn't it already the case?

Anyway thanks for your opinion/feedback.

While it could be technically doable to drag a corpse, youd be able to drag it a couple of meters at the most, and be exhausted by the effort. And i do agree with whole surface part - dragging a corpse of even, fairly smooth ice, would be far easier that attempting to do it on deep snow covering uneven/angled surface.

Ability to pick up rabbits is a must.

And making fire doesnt seem to be affected by surface it is created on. Even wind seem to have no effect on initial attempt(but i might be wrong about it).

I remember once not being able to start a fire because of the strong wind. I had to go somewhere a little more sheltered to actually start it. That's all I know/heard about it so far
