Story mode ideas

So I have binge played fire watch (one 5 hour session) and I have to say there are meny similarities between Fire watch and The long dark.

While playing fire watch I very much enjoyed the co-op with an NPC so Thats what I think should be in TLD, just a NPC companion that follows you to develop a story.

I just think that without another survivor of the plane crash the story would be kinda bland as the only objective would be to survive.

Lets add a wife, who does nothing but complain and accuse you in everything that goes bad, including Event, plain crash, undercooked/overcooked meat, cold, wolves, blizzards and lack of skin lotion. Would allow to develop a story of how Will became serial killer.

She wont go away on her own, dont help with anything(but do eat, drink and sleep... in your bed/bedroll), do not freeze, always find you if you "accidentally" lose her and wolves also avoid her.

No. Stop. That´s cruel and evil! I wouldn´t want to play that. :shock:Lol.

For me the Story Mode Teaser really felt like a love story. Astrid and Will trying to find each other. I´d like that^^

I want to see NPC action, dialogue and animation. God, The Long Wait. :side-eye:But whatever awaits, I trust that Hinterland will present us a high quality experience, as always. I tend to fantasize about a hostile NPC (maybe really just one, or two) that is hunting us across maps, occupies shelter or got something the player wants. That could be thrilling. A city escape sounds fascinating as well <3

Adversarial NPCs would be interesting. Still not keen on a psychopath hunting you... :side-eye:

That would be epic. In my head now, trappers cabin is occupied by a psychopath responsible for most of the bodies found in ML. He wanders out during times of low visibility (night, fogs)  and hunts the player down. All wildlife avoids him. And so should you.
